Financial Controller - Real Estate

The Company
They are one of the largest real estate managers in the UK with over £5bn under management. They have approximately 40 staff, split into specialist teams. They now have an opportunity for an exceptional accountant with previous real estate experience.

The Role
You will report to the Director - Real Estate Finance and you will have responsibility for best practice accounting and reporting by the finance team across all clients. You will also be responsible for the implementation of systems whilst also defining and overseeing efficient processes and controls across all real estate investment. Your responsibilities will include:
•Overall responsibility for direct reports and their teams including recruitment, development and performance of the team.
•Develop and oversee best practice accounting, reporting, and processing across the real estate investment finance team.
•Advise JV partners and property managers on best practice accounting and assess whether/ensure that (as appropriate) it is being followed.
•Act as the business representative for all financial development of MRI.  Oversee the MRI and 
systems, where appropriate identifying opportunities, getting approval and implementing      development of the systems in order to secure efficiencies and/or reduce risk.
•Develop and implement financial and relevant management reporting which meets the requirements of the management team, and internal and external audit committees.
•Ensure that processes and controls are developed and updated to reflect the evolving systems and operations of the business. 
•Overall responsibility for consolidation of the many funds’ year ends and interim accounts.  This includes monitoring and reporting on monthly pricing and quarterly distributions to their investor base.  
•In addition, management of the internal team and external JV managers is required to ensure that all reporting deadlines are accurately reflected and met.
•Attend client audit committees as required but including and in particular the audit committee.
•You will also co-ordinate and control accounting information from external sources according to the requirements.  The ability to liaise effectively with auditors and other external advisers to ensure statutory deadlines are met in the production of accounts is essential.

Who they are looking for
•You must be a graduate qualified accountant (preferably ACA).
•Accounting experience must have been gained within a real estate environment.
•You must have experience of consolidation, investment and fund accounting and an understanding of a wide range of accounting functions is essential.
•Experience of report writing.
•Experience of managing staff.
•You must be a confident and ambitious individual, with keen attention to detail and a       demonstrable commitment to high achievement. 
•You must have problem solving abilities.
•You need a disciplined and organised approach to reporting timetables.
